Dr. Klass and her mother will read and discuss their latest book, Every Mother is a Daughter. You won't want to miss hearing this pair talk about their lives!
Recently, medical students from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston displayed their filmmaking skills at the Texas Medical Association meetings and at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
Their presentations included five short films resulting from a new elective course, " The Joys and Sorrows of Medicine: An Introduction to Filmmaking." These videos contain inspiring vignettes of UT Faulty who cared for evacuees from Hurricane Katrina, along with a special tribute to Dr. Herb Fred, a legendary diagnostician and clinical teacher. This elective, and many others, are part of the McGovern Center's innovative curriculum in medical humanities and the arts.
Observing, listening and constructing a coherent narrative are critical skills needed to become an effective physician. Producing this film allowed the students to sharpen these skills as part of their own effort to learn the "art of medicine". Clips from this video will soon be available on this website.
